Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When a beginner uses the balance ball for the first time and easily loses balance and falls, what should they do?
A: The “instability” of the Bosu ball is the core of its training.
Beginner can reduce the risks by following these steps:
1.Find support first: In the initial stage, they can practice standing on both feet while holding onto a wall, upright rack or a door frame. Once their sense of balance is established, they can gradually remove their hands.
2.Start with simple movements: Begin with basic actions like standing on both feet and static squats, and then progress to more challenging movements like single-leg standing and lunge.
3.Choose the right usage environment: Use it on a flat, non-slip surface, for example witha yoga mat,to avoid training on slippery tiles or soft carpets, which can reduce the risk of slipping.
4.Keep the core tightened: During training, keep your abdomen contracted and your back straight. Use your core to stabilize your body instead of relying on random leg movements to maintain balance.
Q: Will the balance ball explode? What is the most appropriate inflation level?
A: A qualified explosion-proof balance ball will not explode under normal use. The inflation volume directly affects stability and safety:
1.Over-inflated: The ball becomes too hard, resulting in insufficient space for shaking, greatly reducing the training effect, and causing significant joint impact;
2.Under-inflated: The ball is too soft, lacking support, making it easy for the body to sink in, increasing the risk of falling;
3.Standard inflation: Pressing the ball surface gives a slight elasticity, the ball slowly rebounds after being pressed, neither hard nor soft.
We recommend the balance ball to be inflated no more than 24cm height.
4.Special note: Avoid contact with sharp objects and high-temperature environments.
Q: When using the balance ball for training, you don’t feel the core. What’s the problem?
A: The main issue is usually with the movement pattern or difficulty level:
Too low difficulty: For example, simply standing on both feet with a small swaying motion, the core muscles cannot be forced to exert force. You can upgrade to single-leg standing, standing with eyes closed, or add compound movements such as deep squats and plank holds.
Too fast movement speed: Excessive force application and rapid movements cause tension loss, and the core cannot be continuously activated. The correct approach is to slow down the movements, and use the core to control balance with each movement.
Incorrect posture: For example, hunching the chest and rounding the back, it will cause the center of gravity to shift, and the joints will compensate by exerting force, resulting in the core having no sensation.
Q: Can the two sides of the balance Ball be used? What are the differences?
A: Yes, both the surface and the base of the balance Ball can be used. The difficulty and training effect are completely different:
With the surface facing upwards: The difficulty is higher and the instability is greater. It is suitable for balance training and core strengthening (such as standing on both feet, deep squats);
With the base facing upwards: The stability is better. The surface of the ball serves as the support surface, and it is suitable for doing push-ups, plank holds, hip bridges, etc., focusing on strengthening upper and lower body strength.
Q: Which groups of people are not suitable for using the balance ball?
A: In the following cases, it is recommended to suspend use or use under professional guidance:
Patients with severe lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion or acute knee joint injury, as the movements on the ball will increase the pressure on the joints and spine;
Patients with extremely poor balance sense, vertigo, or high blood pressure, as they are prone to losing balance and falling during training;
Pregnant women (especially in the middle and late stages of pregnancy), and those with a large body weight and no exercise foundation, have a higher risk during the initial training.
Q: How do you clean the balance ball? Can it be cleaned with water directly?
A: It can be cleaned, but pay attention to the details:
Daily cleaning: Use a damp cloth dipped in neutral soap water to wipe the surface and base of the ball. After cleaning, dry it thoroughly;
Avoid soaking the inflation hole for a long time. Water ingress will cause mold and air leakage;
After cleaning, place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, as UV rays will accelerate the aging and brittleness of the material.
Q: Will the elastic handle of the balance ball break? How to maintain it?
A: The elastic handle is a consumable item. Under normal use, it can last approximately 6-12 months. Paying attention to these details can extend its lifespan:
Before each use, check if the elastic handle has cracks, thinning, or knots. If any damage is found, replace it immediately;
Avoid pulling the elastic rope towards the head or face direction to prevent breakage and rebound injury;
After training, remove the elastic rope from the ball and store it separately to avoid long-term stretching and deformation;
Do not apply grease or hand cream on the rope as it will accelerate the aging of the TPR material.
Care instructions:
Please clean it with a damp cloth dipped in cold water and a neutral detergent, dry it and roll it up for storage.
Please avoid wearing sharp objects such as rings when using.
Please do not expose to the sun for a long time.
